Copyright is the right of the maker of a work (photo) to publish and reproduce it. In the Netherlands, copyright is regulated in the Copyright Act. In Article 1 of the Copyright Act it is described as follows:

Copyright is the exclusive right of the creator of a literary, scientific or artistic work, or of his successors in title, to publish and reproduce it, subject to the restrictions imposed by law."

Anyone who owns a copyright to a work has two exclusive rights: the exclusive right to publish the protected work and the exclusive right to reproduce it. This means that anyone other than the copyright holder needs permission from rightholders to publish and / or reproduce the work.
