Photographer Govert de Roos' career starts in the 1960s through his love of pop music. With his youthful enthusiasm, Govert managed to talk his way into concerts and invariably stands right in front of the stage. Back home, he enjoyed doing magic with his films in the darkroom.
In 1969, when he was just 15 years old, he managed to sneak into John Lennon and Yoko Ono's "bed-in" action at the Hilton hotel in Amsterdam with a forged pass. This marked the start of a magical photographic career.
Slowly he developed into a photographer much sought after by magazines. Before his lens were iconic artists such as Michael Jackson, Kate Bush, Grace Jones, Blondie, Sade, Leonard Cohen and Emmylou Harris, to name just a few.
