Rotterdam-based photographer, filmmaker and art director Lenny Oosterwijk creates portraits of musicians, artists, actors, politicians and writers.
In doing so, Lenny looks for a different truth behind the mask; the portraits are often intimate, confrontational or raw and straightforward. As a result, he was nominated for the Dutch National Portrait Prize in 2013.
Lenny Oosterwijk's photography was published by a variety of domestic and foreign newspapers and magazines. In the Netherlands, de Volkskrant and Vrij Nederland frequently published his work.
Oosterwijk has been photographing rivers in elusive almost abstract images for several years. The river as a symbol of infinite movement. In 2014, using the same theme, he made the film Heraclitus: No man ever steps in the same river twice. The film was selected by the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
Oosterwijk was also art director of Rails magazine, the Rotterdam Uitagenda, Container and City Media Rotterdam for many years.
Recently, he started Galerie Untitled. The gallery in creative Rotterdam Noord is a place where various art forms come together with performances and readings. Untitled organises exhibitions six times a year and participates in various art fairs.
